Dartmouth MALS Fellowship for Aspiring Educators

Dublin School was awarded a $100,000 matching Edward E. Ford grant in 2021 to support the launch of the new Dartmouth MALS Fellowship for Aspiring Educators - A groundbreaking program that serves to support and mentor prospective teachers and administrators from underrepresented populations interested in starting their careers in independent schools.

The program is a partnership between Dartmouth's Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program and several independent schools across northern New England. Over the course of three years, fellows earn a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) degree from Dartmouth while interning with their school to apply their learning and develop their skills as future teachers and administrators.

The $100,000 matching grant funds are being used to support one fellow in each participating school over the three summers and two years of fellowship. Specifically, paying for their room/board at Dartmouth over the summers and regular professional development/gatherings for the cohort over the course of the program. Creating a strong sense of community among the cohort of fellows is a key component of the program in order to foster professional networking, deeper discussions about sensitive topics like racism, a voice in the development of the program, and increased connection within the independent school community.
